Baron Philippe de Rothschild Chile was established in 1997 by Baron Philippe de Rothschild in the valley del Maipo (60 ha). In 2013, the winery acquired 960 ha in the Valley del Maule. Drawing on intimate knowledge of the Chilean terroirs and its unique expertise as wine maker, Baron Philippe de Rothschild’s vision is to achieve recognition of Baron Philippe de Rothschild as the benchmark for quality in South America.
The encounter of Chilean soil and Bordeaux expertise gave birth in 1999 to Escudo Rojo, a fine branded wine worthy of Baron Philippe de Rothschild’s high standards, image and great winemaking tradition. Escudo Rojo is the literal Spanish translation of «Rote Schild», a German phrase meaning «red shield», the family’s historic emblem
